Right click on an empty place within the ‘ Select a recording device below to modify its settings‘ area and check these options: View Disabled Devices and View Disconnected Devices.

Locate and right click your audio device (speaker or headphones, whichever you wish to use) and select Set as Default Device. Again, Right click your audio device and select Set as Default Communication Device.
This will open the Sound options with the Playback tab selected.
Right click the Speaker icon from the icon tray in the bottom right corner of your PC.
